Climate Change
Green House Gases
Can we stop the enviable future?
|
What our future will look like if we keep producing excess greenhouse gases will be catastrophic for generations to come. If the greenhouse gas emissions get too serve the climate will start to become unbearable with massive storms wiping out entire cities leaving many refugees all over the planet (Climate Change Explained). Many coastal cities will become emerged under water, and the destruction of agriculture will lead to chaos in every society (Climate Change Explained). Based on a New York Times article called Climate Changed Explained, narrated by Bryce Plank, he states that states we need to start taking emissions level seriously, and start rapidly reducing them down (Climate Change Explained). Worst case scenario, the sea levels rise from melt downs of Antarctic ice sheets, food production goes down, and sea levels rise covering our cities that we built using those greenhouse gas emissions (Climate Change Explained). Another crucial point, Byrce stated was Scientists state that the sea level will rise one foot per decade, but it is happening faster since we are basing it off only past preexisting changes (Climate Changed Explained). That mean’s our future could most likely mean some states in the United States, and countries around the world could be submerged under water in a couple decades. Scientists are publishing articles about how warming of the earth is leading to more droughts and heat waves, which then leads to more severe storms, and flooding (Climate Change Explained). A big issue that is very controversial in today’s political climate is government officials, and politicians are trying to block any bill being passed, and undermining science by casting doubt (Climate Change Explained). This has caused a major divide in the United States has many people believe that the scientific facts that are being presented are exaggerated, and enhanced. But, China, which is one of the leading greenhouse gas emissions countries in the world is starting to put programs in place as most of their major cities will be emerged in water (Climate Change Explained). Many of their citizens in the major cities must wear masks to just to go on in everyday life. Lastly, Technological break throughs are improving, but we are not adjusting enough money to aid the technical advances because government, and world officials still are not up to par with the growing epidemic (Climate Change Explained).
We will have to change our ways of life in the future if we do not create a plan of action to cut down the human production of greenhouse gases. According to the Climate Change 2014 Synthesis Report Summary for Policymakers by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, they stated that “Adaptation can reduce the risks of climate change impacts, but there are limits to its effectiveness, especially with greater magnitudes and rates of climate change.” (ipcc.ch). Adaptation can help reduce the risk of the future from becoming unsalvageable. But, as the rate we are going, we are at the risk of greater effects of climate change disaster that could limit the solution. The solutions proposed by the IPCC would consist of extreme greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and practically zero carbon dioxide emissions in the next decades to come (ipcc.ch). Our future without severely reducing greenhouse gas emissions will be filled with limited resources, complete chaos, extreme climate, and complete chaos. If the world comes together as a collective unit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, we can help save the environment, and the world. |
